Q: Can I use bleach on Fatboy products?

No. We do not recommend chlorine bleach on Fatboy products. Use the fabric-specific stain recipes instead.

Q: How do I protect my outdoor Fatboy in Canada?

Let the product dry completely after cleaning and store it indoors during cold, wet winter months. Use a protective cover when possible.

Stain solution guide

For your Fatboy.

Spilled coffee on your Original? Kids went creative with ketchup? No panic. Use this Canadian version of the Fatboy stain solution guide to clean the right fabric, with the right mix, at the right time.

At a glance

Identify your fabric (outdoor Olefin, nylon, soft indoor, canvas).
Treat within 1 hour for best results.
Blot, don’t rub. Remove excess first (cornstarch for greasy stains).
Use 60 ml dishwashing liquid in 4.4 L of lukewarm water as your base mix.
Add white vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, ammonia or isopropanol only if the recipe tells you.
Let it dry completely. For outdoor items, store in a dry place afterwards.

Base mix

60 ml mild dishwashing liquid + 4.4 L lukewarm water.

Indoor & Outdoor Olefin Fabric

For Canadian patios, terraces and around the pool: Olefin is made to handle life outside. Still, stains happen. Start with this base mix:

Coffee, cola, juice, mustard

Use base mix only. Apply, blot, rinse, air dry.

Red wine, berries

Base mix + 125 ml white vinegar in 4.4 L water.

Chocolate

Base mix + 125 ml hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) in 4.4 L water.

Grease, hair gel, mayo, salad dressing, suntan lotion

Use cornstarch to absorb, remove excess, then clean with base mix.

Chewing gum

Isopropanol first, then base mix.

Nylon Fabric

Classic Fatboy nylon is strong and wipeable. Most daily-life stains can be solved with the same base mix.

Everyday spills (coffee, cola, milk, tea)

Base mix only.

Beer, urine

Base mix + 125 ml white vinegar.

Red wine

Base mix + 125 ml white vinegar + 250 ml isopropanol.

Wax / candle

Gently iron with a cloth, then isopropanol, then base mix.

Blood

Base mix + 125 ml ammonia.

Stonewashed & Canvas Fabrics

Softer look, softer hand, a little more care. Avoid scrubbing too hard.

Base mix.

Ink

Acetone, then base mix.

Can I put my Fatboy cover in the washing machine?

Only if the product label says so. Some covers are removable, some are not. When in doubt, contact Fatboy Canada with your product name and a picture.

Can I use bleach on Fatboy products?

No. We don’t recommend chlorine bleach on Fatboy products. Use the stain recipes above (vinegar, isopropanol, hydrogen peroxide) depending on the fabric.
